jj - “Your Love” (Outfield cover)

Is it just me, or does this song work better from the ideotypical female perspective?  The seething (yet seemingly naive) testosterone of the 80s original tends to relegate the “love” in question to a matter of euphemism, despite the best efforts of the bridge.  Adolescent male confusion, equating hormonal urges with deep emotions.  In Elin Kastlander’s solo version, here, the emotional efforts hit their mark, as the “older boy” would bring an emotional maturation missing in his younger counterpart.  In the original, one doesn’t have to guess what the “older girl” has to offer.
